NHI launches Change a Life 2019 campaign

The National Hispanic Institute — as part of its 40th anniversary celebration — is reaching out to its alumni and supporters on its Change a Life campaign. It’s a simple goal: NHI is asking for 1000 people to donate $100 each, with the funds going to help students transform their lives at NHI’s summer programs.

Specifically, NHI’s asking its supporters to help students in their own cities and regions. For instance, if you’re in San Antonio, where we’ll officially celebrate our 40th anniversary in July, your donation will go to help a San Antonio-area student get to the Texas Great Debate, the Texas LDZ, any of our three CWS programs (including two at brand new locations!), or any of the other programs we offer. If you’re in the Rio Grande Valley, where so many NHI-developed leaders have grown up and gone to high school, your support goes directly to RGV students.

Gloria de Leon and Ernesto Nieto, in their letter discussing the fundraising effort, noted:

When you donate to Change a Life, you’re helping to fund a transformative learning experience for a student with the desire to lead. NHI creates partnerships and sponsorships that reduce the tuition cost of our innovative programs, but some of our students need additional financial support to be able to afford the program. That’s where you come in. Whether you’ve seen first-hand what NHI has done for a student you know, or you’re looking to support a program that makes your community better, Change a Life truly changes lives — for the students who go through NHI programs, their family members, their schools, and the people who live and work alongside them.

If you want to contribute to this year’s campaign, just go to our Change a Life donation page to make a simple, secure online contribution. We’re gearing up for one of our most important summers yet; we want to make sure that everyone who wants to participate in an NHI program has the opportunity to do so.
